Great news from KCS

Dear Friends,

Join us to celebrate the award that Kigali Christian School received yesterday as the best private school in Kigali. Normally in Rwanda, private schools are far better than the government schools. The best schools in the country are all in Kigali city (population about one million) where we emerged the best school. We were presented with a trophy and a check of five million Rwanda francs, which is close to $7,500. The evaluation took into consideration not only the academic performance, but also discipline, management, facilities, and generally the whole school environment.

Update on Future Schools: 􏰀 Land for both North and

East school sites have been paid for and the title transfers are nearly complete.

􏰀 BuildersWithoutBorders will be coming in January 2015 to begin construction on East site.

􏰀 Need to raise $60,000 to construct three concrete slabs, and $60,000 to prepare and secure the plot.

KCS school leaders celebrate!

We are honored to receive this distinction and encouraged as we plan to build more schools in other parts of the country. Please continue to pray for Kigali Christian School, specifically:
􏰀 That the staff will be encouraged by the award and motivated to continue in excellence.
􏰀 That we will not become proud or no longer strive for the things that God would consider as “best” in a school.
􏰀 That funds and resources will be provided for the construction of the new schools.

“Best School in Kigali”

Thankful for your partnership in this ministry,

July 2014

News update from Rwanda

Dear friend,

I hope to send in my next montly newsletter with more details, but right away, join me to celebrate the award that Kigali Christian School got yesterday as the best private school. Normally in Rwanda, private schools are far better than the government schools. The best schools in the country are all in Kigali city where we emerged the best school. We were presented with a trophy and a check of five million Rwanda francs which is close to $ 7,500.

The evaluation took into considerations not only the accademic performance, but also discipline, management, facilities and generally the whole school environment. Different factors lead the Government of Rwanda (ministry of education and the city of Kigali) to declare our school as the best.

Our desire remains that one of makind disciples of Jesus Christ even by providing quality christian education to every young person in our country. God willing, and with his provision, we will replicate this in other parts of Rwanda.

Thank you for being our partner, and God bless you.

Builders Without Borders News

We are now only 7 months away from leaving to go to Rwamagana in Rwanda.  Rwamagana is about one hour Northeast of Kigali, a very poor area of Rwanda. This trip is the first time we will build outside Kigali, so a totally new experience is in store for us.

The first group will leave on Thursday the 8th of January 2015 and will return to the states on Sunday the 18th. The second group will leave on Thursday the 15th and will return to the states on Sunday the 25th of January.

The cost for 11 days will be approximately $2600.00 and if you stay for the full 18 days the cost is about $3000.00. This price is based on double occupancy.  If you would like to have a single room the price will be higher, but not yet determined.

Included in this price is, flight, hotel, meals, health insurance, transportation and an excursion in Rwanda.  We will again be flying Ethiopian Airline.

We will be building three 120' x 32' buildings, 9' tall,  and one smaller building for their office.  The interior of the buildings will be a material called “smart side" and it comes in 9'x4' sheets so no cutting for a top piece. The exterior will still be vinyl siding, because it will keep maintenance cost down. We will most likely ship the containers at the end of August 2014.  We will all meet at Sun Coast Lumber and we will need a lot of people to load the three 50' containers.  More to come on this.

We will also be doing things a little differently this time when it comes to the planning of the work. We will have one superintendent who is “the boss “for the project. We will have a daily meeting where people are assigned their task for the day so we all can work more as a team.

We will also, again, take Wednesday off for sightseeing, such as a safari. This trip is not just about building, but also about experiencing a little bit of how the people of Rwanda live and see the country side of this beautiful country.  More to come on this.

In the coming weeks and months the planning of this trip will continue and of course you will be kept up to date with information and updates. We will have a couple of orientation meetings to discuss the progress of the trip and to get input from you.

Our goal is to have at least a total of 40 people, split 20/20 each week. We are looking for women or men, young or mature, tall or short, construction experience or not, it does not matter.  We want you.

Please tell your family, friends and business acquaintances about Builders without Borders, share this on your Facebook page or email this to everyone you know.

This is an experience you don't want to miss, so mark your calendar, and start looking forward to a lifetime experience.

News letter from YFCR in Rwanda
(this is where we are going )

Lord Jesus, who paid the cost of our sins, so that whoever believe in Him may have eternal life; and secondly we use it to grasp the message of holiness Leadership and discipleship Development: We have committed to develop young leaders for the sake of our society, and we go into churches and schools to challenge the youth to live a leadership life, where they behave well, study Bible, and follow Jesus as their role model. In this period we challenged 85 youth who lead others in different schools, and they have said that they will lead by example. We will continue this program until all will lead like Jesus. If you have any contribution, please come and join as you are welcome. In discipleship we (Jonathan and one volunteer) are discipling one young lady who gave her life to Jesus last year, and she is benefiting greatly, as she testifies herself: “Before I was not even able to find a book in the Bible, but now I can. I was confused about the Christian life, but now even if I can’t say I know everything, but I know the meaning of being a Christian and who paid the cost. I know that to be a Christian is to believe in Jesus, and the cost is the blood of Jesus shed on the Cross for the payment of my sins which caused death to me” Umutoni Salima Said Salima Mutoni The preparation of land for wheat planatation Wheat planatation after three weeks Some of the harvest of sweet potatoes Farming Program: Last year 2013, we started a farming program for three main reasons: firstly to minister to the youth in the area where we have land, who will come to look for a job; secondly to efficiently use our land; and thirdly to produce quality food for our kids at KCS (Kigali Christian School). We stated by planting sweet potatoes and wheat. On 1 ha we have harvested 8.5tonnes of sweet potato, and now we have 1.5 ha of wheat plantation. Youth who work with YFC/Rwanda-Northern Chapter testify of the positive change in their life: “Before the starting of the activities of YFC, I was hopeless without a job as I have finished my secondary school, but now with the income from working with YFC/Rwanda-Northern Chapter, I can buy some of my needs. I also managed to buy seed from YFC harvest, now I can plant also for myself. Especially I thank YFC for the program of prayer and preaching the word of God before starting to cultivate. I hope that as I will continue to work with YFC/Rwanda, I will get more, especially the true way of praising God, as we have started” Louise JORORYIZA said.
